Top 100 Video Games of All Time - #10 to #1

At first glance, a Top 100 Video Games list seems like way too much, but in reality, it is very difficult to break down ONLY 100 top games. We took on the challenge and finally finished after much help from the supporters at JoyStik Entertainment from all over the world. Please remember, this is OUR list and you will probably have some harsh words! Please do leave them below :). ENJOY!

10) Grand Theft Auto Vice City – PlayStation 2

“Grand Theft Auto Vice City was one of those games you simply refused to complete the story, because you were having too much fun strolling around the map and finding all the secrets. I remember at one point when I was introduced to the game, I wasn’t even sure if there was a story and that is truly special because the story actually is amazing too! I could ramble for days about this wonderful masterpiece”

9) Metal Gear Solid 2 – PlayStation 2

“Metal Gear Solid 2 is surprising the best in the series, and only features a hand full of Solid Snake. You play as a new recruit, Raiden. If you think Solid Snake’s story is intriguing, wait until you see Raiden’s past unfolding as you play through a story in which he attempts to save the President of the United States, and learns about his past.”

8) Final Fantasy VII – PlayStation 1

“Final Fantasy VII is regarded by most, as the best in the series for many. I personally am on the same boat. The combat was complex enough to never get stale, but simple enough to learn and master. The story was one of the best in video game history, and at the time, the graphics blew people away. To not experience this game is a sin in my book!”

7) Red Dead Redemption – PS3/ Xbox360

“Hands down the best cowboy experience there has ever been. The goes for movies, tv shows, anything. Red Dead Redemption is THE video game to play if you like westerns. Rockstar took everything great about Grand Theft Auto and turned it into a western cowboy experience. If you enjoyed the TV show Westworld because you believed it would be awesome to experience that theme park, you can nearly get that experience in Red Dead Redemption. It is exciting to think this series is continuing.”

6) Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic – Original Xbox

“Star Wars KOTOR was one of the first difficult RPG video games I completely fully. The story was so gripping that I had to press on, and that ending was incredible (no spoilers here). The gameplay for this RPG was unlike any I have played before, and was such a special experience as a Star Wars fan and a video game fan.”

5) Halo 3 – Xbox360

“All the trash talk you learned while playing Halo 2 local multiplayer (because who really played it online), was now available to the masses with Xbox Live on Xbox360. Sure, the story was good, but who plays Halo for the story really. The multiplayer was flawless, and no matter how many hours you played competing against random people, you could continue enjoying it. A game for the ages, that is for sure.”

4) Super Mario World – Super Nintendo

“Does this game ever get old? The answer is no. It does not…ever….get old. You could play this game 100 times and beat it, start over, and beat it again and it is still enjoyable. One of the best level designs in gaming came from Super Mario World. As a launch title game, that is completely unheard of to be nearly the best game on the console. Welcome to the game Yoshi, the only way out is…if Mario doesn’t catch you before you run off the edge.”

3) Chrono Trigger – Super Nintendo

“Chrono Trigger, unlike most RPGs of it’s time used turn based action combat, while adding some motion to the battle field but still not REALLY hands on combat. Some make the argument that Chrono Trigger is the great game ever made, most like due to the characters, story, graphics for its time, combat system, and its replay value still today.”

2) The Last of Us – PlayStation 3

“When somebody tells me they haven’t played The Last of Us, I seriously cringe. If you are a gamer, and have no experienced what Naughty Dog made here, it really is a shame. Some of the best gameplay and leveling system ever witnessed in gaming, along with a story they will bring a grown man to tears, The Last of Us is arguably the greatest video game ever made.”

1) The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time – Nintendo 64

“Last but not least, Ocarina of Time. Just wow. This game blew people away and still topples video games today. On such a weak console, Zelda OOT was able to bring a massive open world while delivering some of the best level/dungeon designs ever seen in gaming. It is hard to say that the story is something incredible, but it is enough to make you by attention to what is going on. Above the story though there is a world so such with feeling, that you feel every emotion they want you to feel. The accomplishment of finding a secret piece of a heart, or building the Giant Sword, or winning the bigger money bag in a mini game, makes you want to explore. Many open world games today feel more like work when doing side quest, but with Zelda OOT it is pure joy. I am not sure if there will ever be another Zelda game this good, or a video game that can make you feel so proud to be a gamer, but thank you for the countless hours and many times revisited to this game Nintendo. Hats off to our #1 VIDEO GAME OF ALL TIME. THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: OCARINA OF TIME!”
